Jacquelyn Alice Hanson, 86, of Blackduck, Minnesota died Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society, Blackduck. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church of Blackduck, with Pastors Raymond Klug and Tom Reagan officiating. Interment will be at the Lakeview Cemetery, Blackduck, Minnesota under the direction of Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck. Active Urn bearers will be her 3 grandchildren, Scott, Jessica and James. Honorary Urn bearers will be Jerry Gripp, Russell Gustafson, Bob Ness, Dan Wavrin, Peter Pacini, Conrad Berg, and Jim Ness. She was born on September 20, 1925 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Alice (Truesdell) Brown. She was raised and attended schools in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1943. She married Robert “Bob” Hanson on March 1, 1944 in Cedar Rapids and lived there until 1954, when they purchased the Funkley Bar in Funkley, MN and lived there for ten years. They then moved back to Marion, Iowa and built and operated the Ambassador Lounge. In 1977 they moved back to Blackduck where she worked for the city of Blackduck for many years. She was taught to wood carve by Jim Schram, Sr. and she enjoyed carving with fellow Blackduck woodcarver association members. She always enjoyed baking, cooking, and visiting with her friends from the resorts on Blackduck Lake, but she especially loved spending time with and cooking for her family. She was a member of the Blackduck Garden Club. She is survived by her daughter, Kandee (Woodie) Gripp of Hines, MN; a special daughter, Nancy Hanson of Blackduck, MN; 3 grandchildren, Scott (Renae) Gripp of Eveleth, MN, Jessica (Ryan Otting) Hanson of Bemidji, MN, and James (Angie) Hanson of Shevlin, MN; 7 great grandchildren, Ellie and Maggie Gripp, Preston, and Marshal Hanson, and Zach, Kennedy and Lindsey; brother, Charles Urban of Omaha, NE; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 2007; her son, Ron in 2008; her granddaughter, Melanie Ann; and her parents.
