William “Bill” David Wimber, 63 of Bemidji died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji, MN with Steve Ballou officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A Private Family Interment will be at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.
Bill was born June 26, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Bill and Doris (Hamilton) Wimber. He married Rosemary Lukenbill on July 6, 1968. They raised their children Bill, Danielle, and Stephanie in Des Moines. After high school in 1966 Bill started working at American Can Company, and worked there until his retirement in 2001. Bill was a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine of Des Moines where he signed up for a fishing trip and was introduced to the Cass Lake area. He still looked forward to seeing the group from Des Moines every year. In 2001, he and Rosemary moved to the Cass Lake area and bought a home on Lake Andrusia. Bill enjoyed fishing and there was nothing he loved better than spending the day on the lake. He also enjoyed Vikings football, making beef jerky, cooking, and spending time with his 10 grandchildren. The last few years he worked part time at the North Country Junction and Big Tap where he enjoyed talking and joking with friends. Bill is survived by his: wife, Rosemary Wimber of Bemidji, Children, Bill (Melissa) Wimber of Afton, IA, Danielle (Dan) Hedges of Des Moines, IA, Stephanie (Austin) Vandeberg of Windsor Heights, Iowa, His 10 Grandchildren: Luke, Brianna, Daniel, Zowee, and Seth Hedges. Andrew, and Norah Vandeberg, Cole and Dylan Wimber, And Seth Ballou. Sisters, Karen (Bill) Roberts of Runnells, Iowa, Terry (Ron) Gilley of Des Moines, Iowa, Beth (Tony) Dietsch of Des Moines, Iowa,
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Stephen Wimber.
