Obituary for Jeanette Kawakami

Jeanette B. (Hough) Kawakami, 77, of Cameron, Missouri, formerly of Cass Lake died Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at her home.

Funeral Services will be 4:00 pm Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Cass Lake Alliance Church with Rev. Jim Wheatley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be Atlanta, Georgia under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Cass Lake.

Jeanette was born June 10, 1934 in Cass Lake, MN, the daughter of Homer and Nellie (Waldrop) Hough. She was raised and educated in Cass Lake. She moved to San Jose, California in 1955. After a five year courtship, she married Frank Kawakami on Feb. 12, 1961 at St. Patrick’s Church in San Jose. They lived there until 1983, when they moved to Missouri. She had a servant’s heart, as most of her time was unselfishly given to her family. She was also known as the “Garage Sale Queen”. Other hobbies included doing puzzles and knitting.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years– Frank Kawakami of Cameron, Missouri 2 Sons- Randall (Michelle) Kawakami of Cass Lake Russell (Saran) Kawakami of Atlanta, Georgia 2 daughters- Rochelle Kawakami of Kansas City, MO Robyn Kawakami of Atlanta, Georgia 14 grandchildren 2 brothers- Joe (Florence “Brownie”) Hough of Cass Lake Homer (Karen) Hough of Laporte, MN 2 sisters- Lavina Brogger of Robbinsdale Mary Ann (Phillip J.) Fairbanks of Laporte, MN Many cousins, nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers- George and Jack, and 2 sisters- Margaret Goodwin and Martha Woods.

Casketbearers will be Eric Kyle, Delric Jones, Jeff Hough and Jay Fairbanks.
