Joyce Berenice Trimble, 87, of Maple Leaf Farm of Tenstrike, MN passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at her home in Hagali Township, MN.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackduck with Rev. Allan Wierschke officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck, MN. Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted the family with arrangements.
Joyce was born Jan. 19, 1925 to Elvin and Phyllis (Boldan) Johnson. She grew up on the farm on Medicine Lake. Her education began in Hagali East one room country school. She graduated from Blackduck HS in 1942 and Bemidj State 2-yr. College in 1944. She began teaching at Greenbush and on to Blackduck, Walker, Hines and Bemidji at Lincoln & Horace May Schools. She retired in 1980 to a life of farming with her family.
She was baptized at Lutheran services at the Hagali school and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tenstrike in 1939. She taught Sunday School, VBS, and Released Time & was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mo. Synod in Tenstrike & later Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Blackduck when the congregations merged.
Joyce married Lowell W. Trimble on June 12, 1949 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Tenstrike, MN. She & her family were active in 4-H – she being a leader for 25 yrs. The family hosted many foreign students, 4-H and IFYE exchangees.
Joyce enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, the farm animals, wildlife & friends. Youth and children were her greatest joy.
Joyce is survived by 3 children, Kevin (Lisa) Trimble of Tenstrike, MN, Martha (Arne) Holm of Hvittingfoss, Norway and Jana (Doug) Decker of Eagan, MN; eight grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother John Johnson of Tenstrike, sister Delores Ekholm of Nashwauk, & many nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Leland (Pete) Johnson, an infant brother & her husband.
