Stanley “Stan” B. Kittelson, 89, of Elk River, MN died on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River, MN. Stanley was born on October 9, 1922 in Nevis, MN the son of Arthur and Alice (Bergstrom) Kittelson. He was raised in Nevis where he attended public schools and graduated in 1940. He entered in the US Marine Corp in 1943; he served in the Pacific Theatre, including Guadalcanal, Okinawa, and China. He was honorably discharged after the war in 1946. He was united in marriage to Mavea Julia Domrese on Feb. 8, 1947 in Mpls, MN. They settled in St. Cloud where they raised their family, and Stanley worked for many years in the grocery business. In 1979 they retired and moved to Detroit Lakes, MN. In 1999 they moved to Elk River, MN and since 2005 Stanley has been living at the Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River. Stanley was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also known for being a “Grillmaster.” He is survived by his 2 daughters – Jan (Roger) Bialke of St. Francis, MN; Barbe (Tom) Jansky of St. Cloud, MN; his 2 sons – Curt (Mari Johnson) Kittelson of Minneapolis, MN; Rick (Gretchen) Kittelson of Detroit Lakes, MN; his sister – Marilyn (Dick) Rouse of Nevis, MN; his 2 brothers – James (Barb) Shortridge of Akeley, MN; Perry (Marlene) Shortridge of Maplewood, MN; 9 grandchildren – Kristen, Jeff, Brad, Adam, Abby, Amy, Corby, Neal, and Amanda. 5 great grandchildren – Julian, Jaide, Madison, Mya, and Tessa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife – Mavea and a sister – Audrey. Our family wishes to thank the entire Guardian Angels Care Center Staff for the love and tender care given to both our parents Stan and Mavea over the past 6 years. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Nevis Church of Christ. Visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Pastor Barry P. Klein will be the officiant. Inurnment will be held at the Lakeview Cemetery in Nevis, MN. A memorial service will also be held at the Guardian Angels Care Center Chapel in Elk River on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 3:15 PM.
