Kenneth McMillen, 88, of Northome, Minnesota, died Friday, August 3, 2012 in Silver Bay, Minnesota.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Northome, Minnesota. Burial will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery in Northome with Full Military Honors provided by Northome VFW Post 3869.

Active casket bearers will be Dusty McMillen, Chase McMillen, Adam Kofstad, Dane McMillen, Tyler McMillen and Jon McMillen. Honorary casket bearer will be John Bursack.

He was born July 23, 1924 in Salo, Minnesota to Frank and Theodora McMillen. He entered the U.S. Army in June of 1943 and received the Asiatic Theatre Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal before he was discharged in February of 1946. He was a member of the 49ers Union as a heavy equipment operator and worked construction, retiring September 1, 1987. He was married to Clara Louise Bursack. He lived in Northome for 63 years and in Silver Bay for 25 years. He enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by a son, Micky (Janet) McMillen of Silver Bay, MN; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Glen McMillen of St. Paul; a sister, Esther Lukenbill of Big Falls; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Judy Bursack and special companion, Evelyn Fisher of Northome.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Louise McMillen; a son, Raymond McMillen; a sister, Helen McMillen and 5 brothers, Roy McMillen, Punk McMillen, Lloyd McMillen, Russel McMillen and Vernon McMillen.
