Doloris Idella Nepsund

Doloris Idella Nepsund, 82, of Park Rapids died on Monday, August 6, 2012 at her home. Doloris Idella Stende was born on June 16, 1930 in Renville County the daughter of Iver and Dora (Lalim) Stende. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the Wang Lutheran Church in Renville County, Minnesota. She attended Country School District 141 Renville County, through the 7th grade, after which she attended Maynard High School graduating with the class of 1949. After graduation she worked as a live-in care-giver and maid for parents of infants and toddlers. On June 17, 1950 she was united in marriage to Raynold Nepsund. They worked for farmers in the area including Clara City, Maynard, Raymond and Atwater, Minnesota. In 1954 they moved to Litchfield and Doloris helped with the family income by taking in sewing, washing and ironing. In 1956 they moved to Balaton, Minnesota, in 1959 they moved to Minnesota Lake and in 1963 they purchased their first home in West Concord, Minnesota and remolded it, here she worked as a bookkeeper for her husband and partner; owner of the DX filling station there. In 1970 they moved their family to Park Rapids, Minnesota. She became a licensed Child Care Provider and continued this work until April 13, 2007. She was active in the Lutheran Churches where she lived. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Park Rapids at the time of her death. She served as Sunday School teacher for 27 years, VBS teacher, Jr. Choir Director, ALCW President, Janitor, Substitute Organist, soloist, serving on several committees, including stewardship and call committees, Financial Secretary for 8 years, and a member of the church council. She has sewn thousands of quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She coordinated a summer long rummage sale in their garage sponsored by the women of Calvary. This sale helped purchase fabric for LWR quilting projects and all monies went to various charities, the proceeds amounted to well over $85,000 over a period of 25 years. She closed this sale in 2000. She was a member of TOPS CLUB # 414 for many years. She was honored as Business and Professional Women of the Year in 1987, and was also honored as Child Care Provider of the Year for Hubbard County in 1991. She loved to travel and has gone to Germany, Hawaii, Alaska and many places in between. She loved the outdoors and nature, spending many evenings in the summer picking wild blueberries. She loved to bake and cook and entertain friends and family. She loved sunsets, quiet times, family celebrations, friends, newborn babies, song birds, kittens, flowers that opened and said “God is Love”, she loved fishing, picnics, singing, and playing her keyboard. She enjoyed decorating cakes for all occasions. She was a faithful wife to her husband whom she loved with all her heart. She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and all her children in her day care. She is survived by her husband Raynold and her five children; Carolyn (John) Vrieze of Park Rapids, MN; Michael (Janet) Nepsund of St. Michael, MN; Nancy (David) Medaris of Shepherdstown, WV; Larry (Mary) Nepsund of Savage, MN; Jeff (Cynthia) Nepsund of Lakeville, MN; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two nieces and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter died in infancy, her grandson Jason Nepsund, her only brother Arville Stende and his wife Lilah and one niece Joan Stende. The service of resurrection will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Pastor Stephen Norby will be the Officiant. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5 until 8 PM at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Park Rapids, MN. Visitation will continue on Saturday morning for 1 hour prior to the services at the church Roz Pederson is the organist. Brinn Krabbenhoft will sing “The Holy City” and “The King Is Coming”. The congregational hymns will be “God Is Good”; “In The Garden” and “Precious Lord Take My Hand”. A special recorded song will be sung by Doloris Nepsund—“The Lords Prayer”. Honorary casket bearers will be Doloris’s grandchildren; Brinn Krabbenhoft, Ryan Vrieze, Tina John, Jason Nepsund (deceased), Beckah Pipenhagen, Kira Fuller, Shannon Medaria, Brianna Nepsund, Andrew Nepsund and Mikelle Nepsund and great-grandchildren; Johnna Krabbenhoft, Brielle Krabbenhoft, Emma Vrieze, Laney Vrieze, Samantha John, Sophie John, Alexis Pipenhagen, Cadence Pipenhagen, Austin Fuller and Norah Fuller. Active casket bearers will be Leslie Pickett, Jan Burlingame, Jill Dickinson, Nichole Weston, Jill Stevenson, Sandy Lichter, LeAnn Dirks and JoAnn Girtz. Interment will be held at the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery rural Dorset, Minnesota In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to be given to the Calvary Quilters Group or to the Calvary Worship and Music committee.
