Obituary for Delano Bowman

Delano P.E. Bowman, 78, of Bemidji, MN, formerly of Texas died Tuesday August 14, 2012 at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji.

Local arrangements are with the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji, funeral arrangements are with the Hurley Funeral Home of Pleasanton, Texas. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton, Texas. Interment will follow in Medina, Texas at the Oak Crest Cemetery at 5:30 PM. Visitation is Friday, August 24, 2012 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM with the family present from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, also at Hurley Funeral Home.

Delano was born Feb.2, 1934 in Medina, Texas, the son of Clinton and Blanche (Akin) Bowman. He was raised and educated in Medina. He graduated from Howard Payne University with a BS degree in pastoral studies. He married Jo Etta Whatley on August 15, 1959 in South Houston, Texas. Delano listened to the call of the Lord and dedicated his life to spreading the Gospel. He did this in the unique way of trick roping while he was giving a sermon, preaching God’s message of love across the USA in many churches and venues for over 50 years. His last congregation was First Indian Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jo Etta Bowman of Bemidji Son- Cody (Pinja Ravattinen) Bowman of Dallas, Texas Daughter- Tandy (Cathy Perry) Bowman of Bemidji, MN Brother- Tyra (Patricia) Bowman of Dolores, Colorado 2 sisters-in-law- Emilie Bowman of Houston, Texas Barbara Wallace of New Jersey 3 grandchildren- Samantha Bowman Hammonds, Marshall Bowman, Skylar Bowman 5 great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Coy Bowman.
