Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji.

She was born on February 9th, 1918 in Buffalo, WY on a small ranch in the Big Horn Mountains. After losing both her parents, she was adopted by Aunt and Uncle. Jessie’s early and teenage years were spent moving with her family first to several areas of Southern California and finally to Quincy, a small town in the Feather River Canyon of Northeast California. She spoke often of her love for her parents and particularly for her father who, she remembered “was always happy and, although we had very little, always took good care of me.” Jessie and Bill met in 1939. They both worked in the shipyards in Oakland, California helping to build the ships necessary for supplying the war in the Pacific. They were married in 1942 and moved into a small apartment in Oakland where their sons John and Carl were born in 1944 and 1945. In 1946 Jessie and Bill moved to Bemidji where Bill had grown up and throughout their lives served the Bemidji community as volunteers and boards members of many community organizations. Jessie was an avid sportswoman who enjoyed golfing, grouse hunting and fishing. On family fishing trips to Canada she invariably won the bet for catching the most fish. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandparent and friend. She was kind and generous, independent and strong willed, gracious and humble. She was also fun-loving and a bit of a character. She loved telling humorous stories of her early life in the West, and her family and friends loved hearing them. She is survived by her sons John (Cheryl) and Carl (Terry), her grandchildren John, Tiffany, Marc, Amanda, Erin and Ryan, and her nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by many dear friends including Lois Anderson and Nancy Lauderbaugh whose love and kindness to her over many years meant the world to her. Jessie wished that gifts given in memory be directed to the North Country Regional Hospital Hospice in Bemidji, Minnesota
